DEATH ROAD
Death Road in La Paz Bolivia is the name given to official most dangerous road in the world, Yungas Road. This road stretches about 61 km, and covers La Paz to Coroico. It was officially named the world’s most dangerous road in 1995, with an estimated 200 to 300 people killed on this road every year.
However, do not be alarmed by its title…although the Death Road definitely needs to be respected, it has become much safer in recent years and became a major tourist attraction in La Paz. Traffic has been stopped on many parts of the road to give cyclists a fun and safe trip.
LOCATION
We are located in the heart of La Paz, just 2 blocks away from Plaza Murillo where the congress is located and also 2 blocks from the main thoroughfare of La Paz. We are 5 blocks away from the famous San Pedro prison and the Witches market.
From the airport it costs anything from Bs. 80 to Bs. 100 to get to the hostel depending on the time of day or night. This trip can take about 30 to 45 minutes as the airport is located in the city of El Alto.
From the bus station it will cost you about Bs. 20 in a taxi and should not take any longer than 15 minutes.
Tell the taxi driver “Calle Comercio 1476, Esquina Bueno” You will see our yellow facade with a Wild Rover sign.

How do you get to Wild Rover from the bus terminal?
A taxi from the bus terminal is approx. 20Bs depending on what time you get to La Paz.
How do you get to Wild Rover from the airport?
A taxi from the airport is approx. 70 – 90Bs.
Is reception open 24 hours?
Yes our reception is 24/7 so any questions you have or help you need there is always someone to help.
What time is check in and check out?
Check-in is 3pm & check out is 12pm. If you arrive early & want to guarantee a bed, you will need to book from the night before. Alternatively, if you arrive early in the morning & need to wait to check-in, you can store your bags in our bag storage & have use of the facilities. After your check out you can use the bag storage & facilities until you leave the hostel for your next leg of your trip.
How far is Wild Rover located from the centre of La Paz?
Wild Rover is located 3 blocks away from the Presidential Palace and Plaza Murillo, which are considered the center of La Paz. There are supermarkets, ATMs, restaurants, and pharmacies all within walking distance.
Do you have a restaurant and bar and what are the hours? Can I visit if I am not staying at Wild Rover?
We have a restaurant/bar located inside Wild Rover. The restaurant is open from 9am – 9pm & the bar is open from 9am – 1am. Breakfast is from 9am – 12pm, full menu 12pm – 9pm. We have cold tap beer & refreshing cocktails all day & night! Visitors are welcome, you just need to show ID to enter. We don’t allow visitors in after 11pm or if we are full so come early to avoid disappointment.

Can I bring my own food and alcohol? Do you provide a fridge or a kitchen?
As we are a licensed premises we can’t allow alcohol not bought on the premises. You are welcome to bring your own food but we don’t provide a fridge or guest kitchen due to licensing regulations. You can eat in all the common areas & the bar but not in the rooms for hygiene reasons & respect for your roommates.
What facilities do you offer at Wild Rover?
At Wild Rover we offer a lively restaurant & bar, a co-working room, free WIFI, large sun kissed patios – We are the only hostel in La Paz that has them, daily & nightly activities, the best parties in town with friendly & accommodating staff. We have pod beds with privacy curtains, locker for each bed in large & small rooms aswell as private rooms.
Do you offer tours?
We have in-house 3rd party travel agency located next to reception where you can book all your tours. You can contact them in advance at info@altitudealliance.travel, and their website is http://www.altitudealliance.travel if you want to make online bookings.
Are children allowed?
We regret to inform that due to our premises being fully licensed and hosting adult-oriented events and activities, we do not allow children under the age of 18.
Do you have parking?
We do not offer parking at Wild Rover, but there are many car parks nearby, and street parking is available but limited.
Do you offer laundry service?
We have a 3rd party laundry service where you can do your laundry daily. You need to bring it to reception before 12pm & is typically back the same day by 11pm at night.
Do you give a key for the rooms and how do the lockers work?
For private rooms we provide a key upon check-in & a deposit is required which is refunded at check out upon return of the key. Shared dorms do not provide keys but each guest has their own locker, which requires a personal padlock.
Can I request a bottom bunk bed?
Our system automatically assigns beds based on room availability so we can’t guarantee a bottom bunk, however, upon arrival you can ask the receptionist or manager at check-in which rooms have bottom bunks available.
Do you offer towels?
Private rooms include towels free of charge. For dorms, towels can be rented from reception.
What are the payment options?
You must pay in cash in local currency Bolivianos.
For group bookings, will we be staying in the same dorm?
We will do our best to keep your group in the same dorm, but during high season or holidays it may depend on availability. If you book directly on our website, we can normally keep groups together.
